6 Days Sahara Tour from Tangier - Itinerary
Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen
Your tour begins with a pick-up from Tangier. Travel through the scenic Rif Mountains toward the charming blue city of Chefchaouen. Spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful blue-painted streets, the old medina, and relaxing squares. Overnight stay in a traditional riad in Chefchaouen.
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, to see Bab Mansour and the historic medina. Later travel to Fes where you will spend the night in a traditional riad.
Day 3: Guided Tour of Fes
Today you will explore the fascinating city of Fes with a local guide. Visit the ancient medina of Fes El Bali, the Al Quaraouiyine University, the famous tanneries, and traditional souks. Discover the rich history and culture of Morocco’s oldest imperial city before returning to your riad for the night.
Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
Depart Fes and travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and visit the cedar forests near Azrou where you may see Barbary monkeys. Continue through the scenic Ziz Valley before arriving in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara Desert.
Day 5: Merzouga – Camel Trek – Sahara Desert Camp
Explore the Merzouga desert region during the day. In the afternoon enjoy a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi while watching the sunset over the Sahara. Arrive at your desert camp where you will enjoy dinner, Berber music, and a magical night under the stars.
Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Wake up early to admire the sunrise over the dunes before leaving the desert. Travel to the spectacular Todra Gorge where you can walk through the dramatic canyon. Continue to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and arriving in Marrakech where your tour ends.
